Jag Mandir Udaipur
Jag Mandir is another island palace built in the Lake Pichola
, Jag Mandir was built by Raja Karan
Singh in year 1615. name Jag has derives from Jagat Singh who added to the
initial structure. Jag Mandir was never used for the purpose for it was built.
Jag Mandir palace was used to provide shelter to the Mughal prince Khurum
(later Emperor Shah Jahan) who rebelled against his emperor father
Jahangir, in the 1620s. Jahangir was succeeded by Shah Jahan who was
still in Udaipur at the time of his father's death. During the 1857
Mutiny Jag Mandir palace once again served as a safe place for British
women and children.
Sahelion Ki Bari
As name suggests The "garden of the maids of honour", Sahelion-ki-Bari was designed
in year and laid out early in the 18th century as a leisure retreat for ladies of the
royal household to spend their time in leisure. Saheliyon ki bari has the lotus pool,
fountains, lawns, flowerbeds, and marble pavilions make it a beautiful place.
Jagdish Temple
Jagdish temple was built in year 1651 A.D. by Maharana Jagat Singh,
This Indo-Aryan temple is
dedicated to Lord Jagannath ji, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu. Jagdish
temple is largest and
the most beautiful temple of Udaipur.
Fateh Sagar
Fatesh Sagar Lake
Fatehsagar lake is located at west of Sahelion-ki-Bari , It was built by Maharana Fateh
Singh. Fatehsagar Lake is bordered by sharp hills and a canal (
which was built in the beginning
of the 20th century) connects it to the Lake Pichola. Nehru park is
located in the middle
of the lake which is a popular garden island with a boat-shaped
cafe.
Sajjangarh
Sajjangarh is known as "Monsoon Palace" of Sajjangarh.
Sajjangarh palace was deserted by the royal family soon after its construction in
year 1880 due to the impossibility of pumping water to the
palace, Sajjangarh offers an
unrivalled view of the Udaipur city's lakes, palaces and the surrounding
countryside.
